Of Components and Raw Materials
Flying Light Weight
Bild anzeigen
A total light weight. Just 17.5 kg and a possible material solution for solar aircrafts. This is the seat of the SolarImpulse - the plane that hopefully will one day surround the world only with the power of sunlight.
Hidden Improvements
Bild anzeigen
What's this? Sure! New, better and lighter plastic applications for automobiles. An exhibit of the so called rubber street.
Handful of Pellets
Bild anzeigen
So tiny - so important. Plastics in small pieces.
Plastics in A Thousand Pieces
Bild anzeigen
Pellets - the typical form of delivery for plastics. Due to its many colours and with a bit of human phantasy it shows the German flag in bottle shape - upside down...
From Pellet to Product
Bild anzeigen
The range of products made from colourful pellets is never ending.
Rubber Robot
Bild anzeigen
Get out of my way! The robot made out of rubber is just a piece of eye catching art.
Plastic Phobia?
Bild anzeigen
K 2010 - also a place to raise attention with confronting slogans. Biodegradable and "classical" plastics are to "blame" for this campaign.
For A Safe Plunge
Bild anzeigen
Water resistant properties - these make plastics prone to be used in water sports.
Crushed by Shredder
Bild anzeigen
Whose fault is this? Visitor taking a close look at the powerful machine - the shredder that hides behind the crushed plastic pieces.
Airblown Cases
Bild anzeigen
Many different shapes due to the same technology - blow molding creates cases for a variety of uses.
Machines at K 2010
Tour de Force
Bild anzeigen
Before the start of K 2010 a lot of heavy work and machine handling was necessary.
Masses of International Visitors
Bild anzeigen
Many, many thousands of visitors come during K 2010 - from all over the world.
Colourful Machine
Bild anzeigen
Colourful presentations draw the visitor's attention.
Much Space for Machine Giants
Bild anzeigen
Huge booths give a lot of space for many large machines - from injection molding machines that can save material and energy to highly flexible automation for the production and packaging of certain objects...
High Speed Blow Moulding Machine
Bild anzeigen
... and a large high speed blow moulding machine.
Enjoy the Meal!
Bild anzeigen
Some of the machines seem to have great appetite for plastics.
Buzz Saw Takes Care of Plastics
Bild anzeigen
Buzz saw that takes care of big plastic chunks in order to get neat and precisely sawed components.
Fast Entertainment
Bild anzeigen
Fast and precise handling was the subject - the visitors are astonished.
Milling for Light Weights
Bild anzeigen
Milling machine for plastics, composites, wood or metals like aluminium. Planes and cars are the ones who profit from this kind of lightweight construction.
Impressive pieces of engineering - the range of machines at K 2010 is huge! A little overview of some specimen is shown in this image gallery. Machines at K 2010 - read more
Overview of Special Exhibits at K 2010
The Lighweight Electric Car
Bild anzeigen
The „UC?“ developed by the Swiss company Rinspeed may have a bright future thanks to high tech plastics of Ticona GmbH. The electric car suits two people and is small (2,50 metres in length), due to its electric drive system it does not produce emissions and has a driving range of 120 kilometers with one full battery. The electric drive system is heavy though, a problem that can be solved with high tech plastics that which provide amongst other things for less weight in conjunction with high stability.
Blow Foil Machine in Line for Record
Bild anzeigen
The largest facility for blow foil at K 2010 has already beaten all records during its build-up and produces a blue tissue foil in world record time: 1,000 kg per hour. It weighs about 80 tons in total and with a height of 15.50 meters, it is the largest facility at this plastics and rubber show - the largest worldwide itself.
Mouse with Five Digits
Bild anzeigen
The intelligent glove is called Peregine and it may reduce mouse clicks at the personal computer to zero. Thanks to sensors build into the black glove, a movement of the digits is sufficient to activate more than 30 actions such as double clicks or navigating the cursor.
Briefcase Production without Detour
Bild anzeigen
This briefcase is an example for the innovation potential of German plastics engineering. KraussMaffei presents a world premiere with the ColorForm procedure which revolutionises the production of prefabricated parts with high polish sections. That way it is possible to manufacture plastics products fully automatically in just one step and with many different colours that are scratch resistant. The advantage: Increase of efficiency whilst optimising costs.
Interacting Roboter
Bild anzeigen
Myon is 1.25 meters high, weighs 15 kg, has white "skin", reacts to its surroundings – and is a roboter. It can already recognise objects optically and follow them with the head. It is doing all this on behalf of the research project ALEAR. Scientists are interested in how complex grammatical structures and behaviour in groups of roboters develop.
Shoe with Ecological Footprint
Bild anzeigen
Bayer MaterialScience has developed a unique concept for a "green" shoe: Nearly 90 per cent of all components are environmentally friendly. The „Ecotrekker“ uses polyurethan on the basis of natural ressources, material for the sole is free of heavy metals and coating as well as glues are free of solvent.
